FAQ – Adhesives – Grouts – Accessories

We supply Dunlop and BAL wall and floor adhesives.

Yes, in some cases and this will depend on what, where, and how you or your contractor will be carrying out the project. You can use any of our adhesives on the wall and floor as they are all flexible and have a high polymer content to ensure maximum adhesion to both the tile and the background substrate.

A key difference between some of our adhesives will be the setting time.

Dunlop CF-03 sets in 3 hours, and we recommend this for floor tiling generally.

Dunlop CF-24 sets in 24 hours, and we recommend this for wall tiling generally.

For large-format floor tiles we recommend:

BAL Pourable One is a quick-setting adhesive only for use on floors.

BAL Flex One is a slower setting adhesive suitable for walls and floors.

This can depend on the size of the tile you are using and the nature of the floor or wall. For tiles 45cm x 45cm or smaller, which you will be most likely using Dunlop CF-03 or Dunlop CF-24, coverage averages between 3 to 4 square meters per 20kg bag.

For floor tiles 60cm x 60cm and bigger BAL Pourable One or BAL Flex One is recommended. Average coverage will vary significantly depending on the tile and typical coverage approximately 2.5 square meters per 20kg bag.

A primer is used to help the adhesive to bond more effectively to certain background substrates. One regular use is when tiling over existing tiles.

ARDEX P4 ready mixed rapid drying multi-purpose primer

This is a solvent-free primer that dries in as little as 30 minutes and produces a textured surface ‘grip’ for your adhesive to grab too. This primer can be used on an internal and external wall, ceiling, and floors. This primer is recommended for any surfaces with a smooth finish. (Attatch data sheet)

BAL APD Primer

For backgrounds that are porous or sensitive to moisture, we recommend priming with BAL APD Primer. This includes plaster and plasterboard products and porous concrete blocks and render.

We supply ARDEX grouts.

We supply 2.5kg bags of grout and on average they cover approximately 6.5 square meters. This is dependent on the size of your tile and the width of the grout joint.
